Dear Resident Police are appealing for witnesses and information after an affray in Stevenage. At around 7.55pm yesterday (Thursday 5 November), officers were called to reports of an altercation between a group of males. The incident started in the Colestrete Close area before the group headed towards Bedwell Shops on Bedwell Crescent. The males, who were described as being dressed in balaclavas and hoodies, were seen fighting, with weapons, including a machete and metal pole, involved. Three males – two boys aged 15 and one man aged 19 – sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment. They were later arrested in connection with the incident and remain in custody for questioning. Detective Inspector Katy Jackson said: “I’d like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident last night or who has CCTV footage of it. “We understand this incident will cause concern in the community and want to reassure residents that this appears to be an isolated incident involving individuals known to one another and there is nothing to indicate an ongoing threat to members of the public. “Officers are carrying out a thorough investigation to establish what happened. Additional patrols will continue to take place in the area today and over the coming days and we would encourage anyone with information to speak to officers.” You can report information online at herts.police.uk/report, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat at herts.police.uk/contact or call the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference 41/106737/26.
